We were living and working in the northern part of Singapore. Like many such HDB towns in our island, Yishun had its share of schools. Twenty-two altogether. Beyond the geographical affinity shaped by the routine of being in Yishun, we sensed a stirring to write a story of reaching out to these schools. How could we for another day drive passed these schools and have them remained nonexistent in our social landscape? Another lamppost. Another bus stop. Another school. Could we relate to them? Could we come alongside schools and students who need help? Could we empower and encourage youths who are marginalised? Could we simply do something? Cape of Colours was birthed.
